Pilots at all levels of experience are no stranger to the acronyms "IMSAFE" and "PAVE" when planning their flights. Though rather minimal, the acronyms aim to allow a pilot to gauge their ability to fly based on: (Illness, Medication, Stress, Alcohol, Fatigue, Emotion and Pilot, Aircraft, enVironment, External Pressure).


Young Aviators of America continues to advocate for aeromedical reform and mental health reform around the country, but especially in the aviation community. Does "IMSAFE" or "PAVE" allow aviators the opportunity to take an honest reflection on their ability to safely operate aircraft?
